Sotirios Kyrgiakos a Greek central defender footballer for Greece and currently Liverpool FC of the Premier League.

Rafa Benitez was criticized for signing Kyrgiako because of his age. He came to Anfield in the summer of 2009, 30 years old. He was brought in as a replacement of Sami Hyppia and as a back up for Daniel Agger and Martin Skrtel.

His first game for Liverpool was a win against Bolton Wanderers in August 29, 2009.

New manager Roy Hodgson was pondering of loaning out the Greek, but never happened for some reason. He scored two goals so far at this early stages of the season, so Hodgson should be thankful for not making a mistake of a loan contract.
